Random Thoughts w/ Jay - Jet Lag Edition

Hey there Rioters!  I’m back.  After five beautiful days in San Diego, I’ve returned to my home in South Philadelphia still feeling the frustration of the incompetent peckerheads who play here in Philadelphia.  Being away did give me a chance not to think about daily life and the sh*t that pisses me off, but still enough time to stew.

San Diego Rules
I’m absolutely in love with San Diego.  She’s my lover, my whore, and my bottom bitch.  If I had the money in the bank, I’d be packing up my house and heading to the Left Coast.  The weather is awesome, the beaches are bitchin’, and the people are pretty rad.
We went there for my cousin Jamie’s wedding, which was out of this world; perfect weather, great family, and great friends.  Jamie and Grant, congratulations!  I wish you both a long life of happiness.
My birthday was this past Monday (the 10th), so we decided to fly home on Tuesday so we could spend my birthday in San Diego.  The perfect day filled with brewery tours, tattoos, and varied beverages from varied establishments.
I want to give some love to my new friend Jay.  Thanks for everything buddy.  You went above and beyond (even though you’re a Mets fan).  If anyone is in San Diego anytime soon, stop at The Village Tavern and give him some love.  He’s a solid dude.
I also want to give some love to the fans of San Diego.  They are die-hard when it comes to their Chargers (and watching Norv Turner coach any game is tough), and continue to back the Padres even though they suck.  It’s nice to go to another city and see true fandom.  Something you don’t see in the likes of Atlanta.

NBA Lockout – I Still Don’t Care
NBA Commissioner David Stern has cancelled the first two weeks of the NBA season.  I still don’t care.  As much as I love my Knicks, Criminalball is my least favorite sport and I can do without it.

The Timberwolves (is that still there name or are they the sexy “Wolves” these days?) Kevin Love was on WIP here in Philly on Thursday and he said he doesn’t expect the lockout to end until after the holidays.  By the holidays he means after New Years.

Good.  Let the players and owners fight over who can be greedier.  I’ll be watching football, hockey, and keeping tabs on baseball’s Winter Meetings.

Curtis Painter
He’s starting and I dig it.  Once Peyton Manning was put on the shelf, I actually questioned why he wasn’t given the opportunity in Indianapolis, especially over Kerry Collins (who was only entertaining when he was a drunk).  Painter has been on the team for a few years now and knows the offensive scheme.  I’m not saying he’s the second coming of Tom Brady and Manning is Drew Bledsoe, but he’s serviceable enough to lead the Colts to a winning record.

No More Kings
If you have never seen the video for “Sweep the Leg”, by No More Kings, watch it.  Granted it’s a few years old and the song isn’t particularity good, but the lyrics are funny and the video is solid.  It’ll take you back to the days of The Karate Kid.  I’m not leading you astray here, find it on YouTube and get a laugh.

Also check the cameo by one Mr Belding, that makes this vid all the more amazing. Enjoy!

Well it’s good to be home and back in the groove.  I might hate your team but I love your fandom.  Any questions, comments, or donations for my Moe Mantha Jets jersey, hit me up at shatmeself@yahoo.com and we’ll have a square dance.
